Where alpine roads meet emerald rivers — Slovenia, best explored on two wheels.

Welcome to Slovenia, a tiny yet stunningly green country in the heart of Central Europe. This shorter entry-level tour is ideal for riders looking to experience what European motorcycle touring is all about. The ride runs entirely within Slovenia, covering an impressive variety of landscapes—from the Adriatic coast and the Julian Alps to the Pannonian Basin, rolling vineyard-covered hills, and hidden valleys with lush pastures and crystal-clear rivers.

Despite being just five riding days, the tour is remarkably diverse. Road quality is excellent throughout, offering a perfect learning ground for newer riders while still delivering plenty of dynamic riding for the more experienced. Our stays will be in locally owned hotels, family-run B&Bs, and small boutique properties, keeping us closely connected to the warmth and charm of local communities.

Fun and joy—guaranteed.

Arrival in Ljubljana

On this day, all riders meet in Slovenia. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. Later in the afternoon, we’ll proceed with motorcycle pick-up, followed by a detailed tour briefing.

With the formalities taken care of, we’ll dive into the technical aspects of both rider and machine—covering body positioning, bike setup, and riding approach—to ensure you’re fully prepared for the journey ahead. The day concludes with a welcome dinner, giving everyone a chance to relax, connect, and get to know each other better.

Bled, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Ljubljana to Kungota

Our first riding day takes us north-east. Geographically, Slovenia is
shaped like a chicken, so we will ride towards the “head” of Slovenia. The day starts with a relaxed warm-up on wider, flowing roads, giving us time to ease into the ride and get comfortable with the curves. As the kilometres roll by, the scenery begins to unfold: lush green gorges, quiet valleys and the unmistakable landscapes that define Slovenia.

We spend the night in a beautiful wine region above the small village of Kungota. Set in a truly picturesque landscape, this area is known for its vineyards, organic produce, and local handcrafted delights. Our laid-back overnight stay is right by the famous heart-shaped road—often used as a symbol to promote Slovenia. Romantic doesn’t get better than this.

Kungota, Slovenia

Kungota to Kostanjevica na Krki

We pass through Slovenia’s second-largest city, Maribor, beautifully divided by the River Drava, before making a short stop in Ptuj—the country’s oldest town, with roots dating back to Roman times. From here, the landscape softens into gentle, rolling hills that gradually descend towards the Pannonian Basin.

Our route takes us through the famed village of Jerusalem, a perfect spot for stunning photographs—and perhaps to pick up a bottle of excellent local wine. Turning west, we ride along the Croatian border, where some truly magnificent sections await. These roads carve through natural parks, quiet valleys, and open pastures, with castle-topped hilltops appearing on the horizon as we consciously steer clear of the mainstream routes. The region is also known for its many wellness resorts.

We spend the night in the south-eastern part of Slovenia.

Kostanjevica na Krki, Slovenia

Kostanjevica na Krki to Piran

Quite possibly the best riding day of the tour—and certainly the most scenic. We begin by crossing the Karst region, riding a network of tiny local roads that weave through farms, vineyards, and quiet villages. Passing Gorizia, we soon enter the spectacular Soča Valley—a true highlight of Slovenia.

Here, the landscape turns dramatic: turquoise-blue rivers flowing beneath towering Alpine peaks, paired with a perfectly winding road that begs to be ridden from start to finish. The day is packed with incredible sights and optional stops, including an open-air World War I museum with jaw-dropping panoramic views, historic Napoleonic bridges, narrow mountain roads leading to breathtaking vistas, rustic old towns, and waterfalls appearing almost every few kilometres.

We soak it all in before arriving in Bovec—the adventure capital of Slovenia and a paradise for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike.

Piran, Slovenia

Piran to Bovec

After two riding days, it’s time to step things up a notch with a longer day in the saddle. The roads remain wide and predictable, allowing for a confident, flowing ride as we cruise through Slovenia’s largest forests—home to the elusive brown bear. Expect excellent scenery throughout the day.

We make a short stop at Predjama Castle, the largest cave castle in Europe, dramatically built into a cliff face and located right next to the famous Postojna Caves. If time permits, the caves are well worth visiting off the bike on another day.

Before heading into the mountains tomorrow, we swap tranquillity for a livelier overnight with plenty of buzz and atmosphere. Our destination is the stunning coastal town of Piran, set on a narrow peninsula along Slovenia’s 47 km stretch of the Adriatic coast. With its elegant Venetian architecture, superb seafood, and romantic cobbled streets, Piran is a highlight in every sense.

Bovec, Slovenia

Bovec to Radomlje

Hold your breath—the final riding day is exceptional. With an early enough start, the legendary Mangart Alpine toll road is an option: a true riding gem, though not suitable for every skill level. Either way, we begin the day in the stunning Trenta Valley before climbing Slovenia’s highest mountain pass—weather and snow conditions permitting.

On the other side, we roll towards Lake Bled for lunch. One of Slovenia’s most iconic sights, the lake is framed by a medieval castle perched above the water and a tiny island at its centre. From Bled, we have the option to ride deeper into the Julian Alps to visit Lake Bohinj, before crossing the mountains via the Sora region on an outstanding stretch of road all the way back.

For our final night, we leave the city behind and head to my hometown, where you’ll experience the true local vibe. We end the journey with a farewell dinner at a very special place—best kept as a surprise.

Radomlje, Slovenia

Departure from Ljubljana

It’s time to bid adieu—but what a journey it has been. As we say our goodbyes, guests heading home will be transferred to Ljubljana Airport, while those continuing with add-on packages will set off to extend their Slovenian adventure. Until we meet again, keep the wind in your hair, the road calling and the spirit of adventure alive.
