In the afternoon of our first day is when our tour officially kicks off! Meet your fellow riders, get to know your bikes, and gear up for an unforgettable journey. We’ll end the day with a delicious welcome dinner and toast to the adventure ahead.
Rome to Assisi
We bid farewell to Rome and embark on a scenic ride through the Lazio region, before dipping our toes into the heart of Umbria. Today’s journey is a feast for the senses. Our route winds through charming towns like Narni, Todi, and Spoleto – each a picturesque hilltop gem beckoning us to explore its cobblestoned streets and discover hidden piazze (and we will).
Our destination for the night is the enchanting town of Assisi. Home to the awe-inspiring Basilica di San Francesco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Assisi exudes a sense of peace and tranquility.
Assisi to Siena
Hold onto your handlebars! Today, we trade the serene charm of Assisi for the untamed beauty of Tuscany. Get ready to be mesmerized by the rolling hills, vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see, and quintessential Tuscan villages basking in the warm Italian sun.
For wine aficionados, we’ll have a chance to sample the world-renowned Brunello di Montalcino and the exquisite Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, two Tuscan treasures sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Our destination for the day is the captivating city of Siena, a living, breathing museum. Stroll through its charming streets, marvel at the architectural wonders like the Il Campo, the main square famous for its Palio Horse Race.
Siena to Florence
Today, we ride on to Florence, Tuscany’s artistic gem. En route, we’ll conquer charming towns like Monteriggioni and San Gimignano, before weaving through the renowned Chianti Classico region – a tapestry of vineyards, olive groves, and exhilarating twisties.
We’ll arrive at Florence in the afternoon to uncover a treasure trove of Renaissance art and architecture. We’ll cap off the day with a delicious Tuscan dinner – a perfect end to another magical day in Italy!
Florence – Exploration Day
No time to rest today – we’re in the heart of the Renaissance, Florence! Lace up your walking shoes and grab some water, because we’re in for a day of exploration. A guided tour in the morning will unveil the city’s artistic and architectural wonders, from the iconic Duomo to hidden piazze steeped in history.
The afternoon is yours to delve deeper into Florence’s magic, where you can explore the treasures of the Uffizi Gallery or Galleria dell’Accademia, where Michelangelo’s David awaits. Feeling adventurous? Conquer the vertigo-inducing climb to the top of Santa Maria del Fiore’s dome for breathtaking panoramic views. Meander through charming streets, stopping at cozy enotecas to sample local wines and discover Florentine culinary delights. In the evening, we’ll gather for a quintessential Negroni toast.
Florence to Lucca
Today, we trade the artistic treasures of Florence for a taste of pure adrenaline. We head 100 km north to the Borgo Panigale district of Bologna, home to a legendary name – Ducati!
Prepare to be awestruck by a guided tour of the Ducati factory, witnessing firsthand the birth of these iconic motorcycles. Immerse yourself in the history of the brand at the museum, and who knows, you might just find yourself browsing the Ducati shop – resisting temptation could prove difficult!
After this special treat, we’ll hop back on our bikes and cruise 140 km to the charming walled city of Lucca, near Pisa.
Lucca to Elba Island
We embark on a southward journey, cruising towards the captivating Elba Island. But first, we stop in Pisa! We’ll stand in awe at the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the Leaning Tower of Pisa – the Torre Pendente – awaits. Capture iconic photos and marvel at this architectural wonder before heading to our lunch stop in Volterra. This mighty medieval town perched on a hill boasts imposing walls that seem to threaten the valley below.
As we continue to Piombino, the ride promises to be just as captivating, with breathtaking scenery to keep us company. Once we reach Piombino, we’ll board a short ferry for the jewel in today’s crown – Elba Island, our home for the next two nights!
Elba Island – Exploration Day
Today, we take a well-deserved break on the picturesque island of Elba, the third largest island in Italy, which boasts a rich history, stunning landscapes, and endless possibilities for relaxation. Napoleon might have been exiled here in 1814, but today, Elba is a haven for travelers seeking sun, sand, and serenity. Explore hidden coves with crystal-clear waters, unwind on pristine beaches, or venture into the island’s charming villages. The adventurous souls can conquer the peak of Monte Capanne and be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views.
Elba Island to Orvieto
We bid farewell to the island paradise of Elba and set course back towards mainland Italy. Prepare to be awestruck by Orvieto, Umbria’s star among stars! This magnificent city, perched on a dramatic cliff top, boasts rich history and architectural wonders that will leave you breathless.
The mighty Orvieto Cathedral dominates the skyline, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture that will take your breath away. But Orvieto’s secrets lie not just above ground. Beneath the city lies a labyrinthine network of over 1200 tunnels, galleries, and rooms, all built throughout history as a means of refuge.
Orvieto to Rome
It’s our last day on the road, but don’t worry, it promises to be a delightful one. We depart from the captivating Orvieto, enjoying scenic stretches and a relaxed pace as we make our way back to Rome.
Savour the final moments of this incredible Italian adventure, as on arriving in Rome, we’ll return the motorcycles, check into our hotel, and freshen up. But the adventure doesn’t end there!
