Mysore to Ooty
We leave the Heritage City after an early breakfast and ride towards the city of Ooty. We continue on the Mysore Road for a few hours passing some quaint villages of Karnataka, before turning towards the national reserve forest of Bandipur. If we are lucky, we will have some sightings of our friends from the wild as we meander through the beautiful forest roads. Right in the middle of the forest, we pass the check post and cross over to Tamil Nadu. Then, we start our ascent towards the Nilgiris and Udhagamandalam – better known as Ooty, the Queen of the Hills. The chill in the air and the beautiful vistas welcome us to the favorite hill station of the south.

Ooty to Valparai
The cool air changes as we climb down from the Nilgiris and ride towards Coimbatore. And after a great local meal at Pollachi, the flower capital of Tamil Nadu, we turn towards Sethumadai to catch sights of some real village sights, and then start our climb towards Valparai. Once we pass the Aliar Dam, a green carpet of tea plantations appears and becomes a great backdrop for our journey towards the small hill station in Valparai. The quaint accommodation at Valparai allows us to soak in the colonial legacy of this land.

Valparai – Exploration Day
You have the whole day to yourself to explore the many attractions of Valparai and catch some local delicacies at the various restaurant options that will be made available to you.

Valparai to Munnar
We ride down from the Anamalai hills down through the scenic road and turn towards Udumalai pettai. Passing some pretty villages we now move towards the heart of Annamalai sanctuary, the Amaravati Reserve forest. We reach the China check post to cross over to ‘God’s Own country’- Kerala. The climb will be challenging yet scenic as we start our journey towards Munnar. After a short stop at Munnar town we start our journey through the tea plantations and mists towards Rajakkad where we will be resting our tired backs.

Munnar to Kumarakom
We start our descent towards the lower hills of the western ghats and finally come down to the plains within an hour of riding. Lush green vegetation and high humidity awaits us as we ride through narrow roads and busy towns of Kerala. After stopping for some tea and Pazham Pori in a typical Kerala tea stall we now reach the famous back waters of Kerala. As we ride along the shore we start seeing some unique sights of life on the back waters. We will finally reach our destination at the wonderful lake shore resort in Kumarakom.

Kumarakom – Exploration Day
Explore the back waters: The world favourite backwaters beacons us to explore them and chill. The tempting seafood and the local toddy is a must not miss list. Time stands still in this wonder of nature.

Kumarakom to Kodaikanal
An exciting day of riding awaits as we bid goodbye to the backwaters. We start our journey towards the beautiful Periyar National Park and climb towards Kumily. We cross into Tamilnadu again passing the Mulaperiyar Dam and the Kumily waterfalls. After passing Theni we start our ascent towards the Kodai hills. After negotiating hair pin bends after hairpin bends we finally reach the beautiful Kodaikanal where we rest for the night.

Kodaikanal to Karaikudi
Traveling from the lush hills of Kodaikanal, we descend into Dindigul, an ancient city in Tamil Nadu known for its fort, industries, and biryani. Continuing east across the plains, we reach Kanadukathan, a village in Chettinad famous for its unique architecture, grand mansions, and exceptional cuisine. Your evening culminates with a walk through town and an authentic Chettinad dinner in the Grand Chettinadu Mansion. You must try the authentic Chettinadu chicken curry!

Karaikudi to Yercaud
Today we move from Karaikudi and ride to the heart of Tamil Nadu towards the northern part of the state. You can see the heartland of Tamil Nadu which is filled with paddy fields and other cultivation land. This probably will be the warmest day of riding as this area is quite warm throughout the year. We will see some wonderful coconut plantations and have savor the very unique red coconut water to keep ourselves cool. We pass some very big towns like Madurai and come towards Nāmakkal and head towards Salem which is another industrial town. From Salem we turn towards Yercaud which is a hill station with beautiful winding roads to climb up. We stay at our resort in Yercaud surrounded by coffee plantations and a beautiful lake.

Yercaud to Bangalore
We leave early from Yercaud and pass Salem town towards the Tamil Nadu Karnataka border. The highway takes us through Dharmapuri and we stop for an early lunch at Murugan’s Idli Shop in Krishnagiri. We can bet that you haven’t had tastier idli before. With a full stomach, we ride into the city of Bangalore and end the tour by early afternoon.
