Arrive in Bengaluru

Your tour captain will be in the Garden City, ready to welcome and introduce you to your fellow riders. He will also brief you about how you’ll be spending the next 10 days on the tour.

Bengaluru

Bengaluru to Ooty

We leave the Garden City after an early breakfast and ride towards the city of Mysore. We continue on the Mysore Road for a few hours passing some quaint villages of Karnataka, before turning towards the national reserve forest of Bandipur. If we are lucky, we will have some sightings of our friends from the wild as we meander through the beautiful forest roads. Right in the middle of the forest, we pass the check post and cross over to Tamil Nadu. Then, we start our ascent towards the Nilgiris and Udhagamandalam – better known as Ooty, the Queen of the Hills. The chill in the air and the beautiful vistas welcome us to the favorite hill station of the south.

Ooty to Valparai

The cool air changes as we climb down from the Nilgiris and ride towards Coimbatore. And after a great local meal at Pollachi, the flower capital of Tamil Nadu, we turn towards Sethumadai to catch sights of some real village sights, and then start our climb towards Valparai. Once we pass the Aliar Dam, a green carpet of tea plantations appears and becomes a great backdrop for our journey towards the small hill station in Valparai. The quaint accommodation at Valparai allows us to soak in the colonial legacy of this land.

Valparai – Exploration Day

You have the whole day to yourself to explore the many attractions of Valparai and catch some local delicacies at the various restaurant options that will be made available to you.

Rest day at Valparai

Valparai to Kumarakom

We leave from Valparai early morning descending through the tea gardens. We cross the border onto the beautiful state of Kerala, also known as ‘Gods own Country’. The morning ride will be an adventurous one as we will be taking forest road and the road conditions may not be the best; well that only adds to our adventurous ride. As we come down towards the plains of Kerala and we ride past some paddy fields & head towards the backwaters, one of the most visited natural wonders in India. We reach our destination at Kumarakom in the evening just to take in some breathtaking sceneries on the backwaters and lake.

Kumarakom – Exploration Day – Backwaters

The world’s favorite backwaters beckon us to explore them and chill. The tempting seafood and the local toddy are on everyone’s must-do list. Time stands still as we cruise through this wonder of nature.

Kumarakom to Kodaikanal

An exciting day of riding awaits as we bid goodbye to the backwaters. We start our journey towards the beautiful Periyar National Park and climb towards Kumily. We cross into Tamil Nadu again, passing the Mulaperiyar Dam and the Kumily waterfalls. After passing Theni, we start our ascent towards the Kodaikanal hills. After negotiating back-to-back hairpin bends, we finally reach the beautiful Kodaikanal, our stop for the night.

Kodaikanal to Yercaud

An early morning start ensures that we take the scenic route out of Kodaikanal and head towards the Palani hills. Passing some beautiful hill towns, we reach the holy town of Palani. We continue our ride on State Highway 83, but leave the highway, circumvent Erode city and head towards Salem. Today we have a ringside view of the heartland of Tamil Nadu. By late evening, after some hot yet enjoyable riding, we reach the little-known hill station of Yercaud. We soak in the cool air and the quiet before we retire for the night.

Yercaud to Bengaluru

We leave early from Yercaud and pass Salem town towards the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. The highway takes us through Dharmapuri and we stop for an early lunch at Murugan’s Idli Shop in Krishnagiri. We can bet that you haven’t had tastier idli before. With a full stomach, we ride into the city of Bengaluru.

Yercaud to Bangalore

Depart from Bengaluru

This is the last day of the tour, and we’ll get you to the airport for your flight back home. While it’s then time to see off your fellow riders who by the end of the tour become friends for life, you’ll be going back home with a suitcase full of amazing memories.

Everything was organized very professionally and the tour group were in the very capable hands of Anil and Sagar from the Goodwind team. I absolutely loved the off-beat routes that Anil and Sagar took us through and I have some very unique memories thanks to that. The stays were fabulous, the food was even better and the company was the best.
